Clarendon College ‘old boy’ donates $250,000 to football team

This comes after yet another successful schoolboy football season that saw the Chapleton institution defended its daCosta Cup and Olivier Shield titles and finished runners-up to parish rivals Glenmuir in the Champions Cup.

Burnett,  a chartered accountant by profession as well as a Golden Krust franchiser in the United States, expressed his admiration for the current crop of players.

$100,000 race the main feature of Elevation Cycling Club year-end meet

The money on offer is considered the largest single cash incentive in the history of local club cycling with majority of the country’s top riders to be on show.

Second placed will pocket $70,000, third $50,000, fourth $40,000 and fifth $30,000, making it also the largest purse for a single cycling race at least at this level.

‘I knew I was the one’, says Jamaican Jason Jackson after world Bellator MMA title victory

The 33-year-old #2 ranked fighter ended the defending champion’s 27-fight winning streak after stopping the 30-year-old odds-on favourite in the third round.

It is Jackson’s first major world title since turning pro in 2012, while Amosov who was drafted by the Ukrainian army to fight in the ongoing war with Russia, was losing for the first time in his career.

"This feels like a dream and I woke up and I'm still dreaming," said Jackson, who was born in the St Catherine capital of Spanish Town before immigrating to the US aged 12 with his parents.

Marland Nattie is dead

Nattie, who is in his 60s, passed away early this morning in the United States of America (USA).

It is further understood that Nattie, a servant of the sport locally for more than three decades, suffered a stroke a few months ago which placed in a coma for some time.

A former national player and coach Nattie continued his love for the sport, becoming an administrator and served in various capacities including president and general secretary of the Jamaica Basketball Association (JaBA).

Old Harbour riders to compete in 125-mile New York cycling event

Both Dixon, 17 and Robinson, 16, are members of the Elevation Cycling Club headquartered in Bodles, Old Harbour. The teenage prodigies will take on the 125-mile flat course alongside hundreds of riders, starting from Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to Montauk Lighthouse.

Dixon is the reigning national junior champion, while Robinson recently won the junior division of a development circuit race at the Portmore town centre hosted by the Elevation Cycling Club.

Andrew Ramsay, Peter Robinson capture main titles at Elevation Cycling Club meet

Forrest suffered a fall from his bike while Bailey could not match the pace led by Andrew Ramsay, who won the Elite 1-2 category, the main feature of the day.

Ramsay, of AVR Cycling Club, finished ahead of Intense Cycling Club’s Shaquille Sinclair, while Bradley McFarlane of McForce was third.

VIDEO: Club surprises national cyclist at St Catherine High Graduation

The 17-year-old Bodles resident was among over 200 graduates of the Class of 2023, with school principal Marlon Campbell among those who spoke highly of the cycling prodigy.

Over the last two years Dixon has risen to national claim as one of Jamaica’s top cyclists, winning the national juvenile title last year before adding the junior crown two weeks ago.

The Old Harbour Glades resident continues to perform creditably representing the nation at the regional level and is regarded as one with a bright future in the sport.

Old Harbour’s Forrest and Dixon crowned national cycling champions

Jerome Forrest and Jaequan Dixon dominated the Men’s Elite and Men’s Junior categories respectively to claim top honours in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Sixteen-year-old Dixon, who had a punctured tyre and failed to finish the Time Trial on Saturday in Rae Town, Kingston, returned for the Road Race on the second and final day, to race clear of the field.

The St Catherine High School student, who won the Juvenile category last year, added another silverware to his growing reputation, by finishing ahead of Kristan McFarlane and Damaine Douglas in third.

Demarai Grey wanted by Saudi Pro League club

According to Sky Sports News, representatives of Al-Hilal FC have made contact with Grey’s agent and are scheduled to be in London next week to negotiate a deal.

Neither Grey’s parent club Everton, nor his agent have made any comment on the development, fueling speculations even further.
