Six years onwards, Lindo's daughter Alyssa Evans is standing as a shining beacon, having put down a distinct marker of academic excellence and exemplary leadership.

Old Harbour’s Shantea Williams amongst PEP elite with 99.2% average

Williams, a resident of South Street, Old Harbour, aced the school-leaving exam with a placement score of 347.2 or 99.2% to guarantee her seat at the revered Campion College, regarded as the best secondary institution in Jamaica.

The head girl was highly proficient in all subjects and credits her awe-inspiring achievement to her strong Christian faith in Jesus, though others would say she’s naturally gifted.

“I was feeling a bit excited but I knew I was going there so it was expected. But I was still excited.

Campion stun Old Harbour to lift schoolboy rugby title

The Campionites exacted revenge at the most important stage of the competition, while it was the opposite for Old Harbour who tasted defeat for the first time this season.

The battle was a replay of the preliminary round clash between these two sides in which Old Harbour romped to a 22-14 win.

Despite all the pre-final talk of avoiding complacency by Old Harbour head coach Devaughn Stewart, the favourites were profligate in a game they dominated at the Cedar Grove Academy field.

Prime Minister Holness commends church for role in education

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for Campion College at the institution in St. Andrew on June 27, Mr. Holness noted that the church has been playing this valuable role “for more than 180 years since Emancipation and the Colonial education grant”.
