It had a depth of 10km with its epicenter located 5km south southeast of Alexandria in the northern parish of St Ann, the United States Geological Survey is reporting.

The tremor lasted for approximately 30 seconds residents told Old Harbour News, causing many to panic.
There are no reports of any damage to property, injury or loss of life at the moment.
Across several communities in Old Harbour residents confirmed feeling the effects, while on Old Harbour News Facebook page, fans in other parts of the country such as Mandeville, Kingston, St Mary, Clarendon, Montego Bay and St Andrew said they felt it too.
Melrose Clarke Brown, who resides in Old Harbour Bay, said she could hear the “zinc on the house top shaking”, while Claremont Heights, Old Harbour resident Shekalee Williams said “it sounds like a monster”.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reminding persons to practice the drop, cover and hold mantra in the event of an earthquake.
