Sgt. Garfield Parkes, who is attached to the Old Harbour Police Station traffic department, is in serious condition after being hit by a truck yesterday.

He’s currently undergoing treatment at a medical facility.

Reports are that at about 7:30 pm, Sgt. Parkes was driving his service motorcycle along the Old Harbour Bay road in the vicinity of the overhead bridge on South Street when he was hit by a truck.

Several diagnostic tests confirmed that the police sergeant suffered multiple fractures to his right leg, right hand and knee.

He’s also complaining of chest pain, Old Harbour News understands.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
