A police operation in the Bamboo Ridge district, seven miles north of Old Harbour, led to the arrest of three Haitian nationals and the seizure of approximately 40 pounds of vegetable matter resembling marijuana.

The raid, conducted yesterday evening (June 18, 2025), was carried out based on intelligence gathered by law enforcement.

The suspects, who were found to be illegally residing in Jamaica, were charged with illegal entry, possession of a prohibited substance, and dealing in same. However, their identities have not yet been released as investigations continue; now expanding to include the Passport, Immigration, and Citizenship Agency (PICA) and the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime (CTOC) Investigation Branch.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Romario Rankin, the chief of police in charge of Old Harbour, confirmed that no Jamaicans have been implicated in the case at this stage of the investigation. He emphasized that the probe remains active, with authorities working to determine possible links to broader criminal networks.

This latest seizure highlights ongoing concerns about cross-border crime and drug trafficking in the region. Police have urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities as efforts intensify to dismantle illegal operations.
