The discovery was made on July 4 during a near midday police operation in the district of Dam Head, Bog Walk where several persons were detained and information gathered about an alleged shallow grave in the area.
During the search of the hilly area in a location above Flat Bridge, a spot was partially dug and what appeared to be human remains were discovered.
Investigators have now theorized that two persons were buried at the location after excavation of the burial site was conducted two days later.
Further forensic analysis of the exhumation will be done to determine how long the bodies have been buried, the possible identities of the deceased individuals and how long they were killed.
Formal charges are expected to be laid soon against the persons believed to be involved, as investigators have been making significant inroads in the matter, Old Harbour News has been reliably informed.
The names of the individuals fingered in what is now being treated as a homicide cannot be released at this time, but they remain in police custody pending formal charges.
The investigation has also been widened to look into the possibility of any connection between this find and the recent discovery of a similar burial site in Rivoli, Spanish Town where human bones were unearthed.
The Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime (CTOC) is leading the investigation with support from detectives assigned to the criminal investigative branch (CIB) of the St Catherine North Police.
