TAJ addresses delay in driver's licence processing

The Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to advise the public of ongoing technical issues affecting the production of same-day Driver’s Licences at all Tax Offices.

This disruption stems from a recent scheduled maintenance activity and impacts both new applications and renewals. Please note that all other services—including tax payments and other motor vehicle transactions—remain fully available.

To facilitate processing during this period, applicants must submit:

1. A completed driver’s licence application form.

2. An uncertified passport-sized photograph.

3. The receipt for payment (whether payment was made online or at a Tax Office).

Motorists are advised that, for a period of up to 60 days, they may legally operate a vehicle by presenting their payment receipt along with their expired driver’s licence. TAJ will notify customers directly once their printed licence is ready for collection.

A dedicated technical team is actively working to resolve the issue and restore normal service as quickly as possible. Further updates will be provided once the matter is fully resolved. TAJ sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and remains committed to enhancing service delivery for all our customers.
