The cacophony of blaring sirens from the massive convoy was audible from hundreds of metres away en route to the funeral service at Sydenham Seventh Day Adventist Church and later onto Dovecot Memorial Park.
It was quite a spectacle to behold last Sunday along the Old Harbour Road as firefighters executed a well choreograph drill in grand fashion in honour of a fallen ‘soldier’, colleague and dear friend.
Henry, 34, died in a three-vehicle crash along the Old Harbour Road in the vicinity of McCook Pen about 11:30 pm on January 1 of this year. The firefighter of eight years had just left work at the Old Harbour Fire Station for his home in St John’s Road, Spanish Town when the fatal crash occurred.

“A good heart has stopped beating, as we part ways with our brother in service, Firefighter Sheldon Henry, your watch has ended, may your soul rest in eternal peace. Our deepest sympathies go out his family and friends,” read a post by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.
