Gangsters fatally shot in Rivoli

Twenty-nine years old Marco Miller and Alex Philpot, died during a police confrontation which occurred about 9:00 am.

Two illegal firearms – a .38 Smith and Wesson containing two live rounds and four spent casing and a shotgun – were recovered in the process.

Both men, the police say, are members of the Bed Bug gang, an offshoot of the notorious Clansman gang, and are known repeat offenders.

Senator Morris Dixon indicated that she received a copy of the report last week, adding that “I have gone through [it] and we will be taking it to Cabinet”.

Holness promises long-term road investment

“It is going to be a 20-year journey for us to get all our roads into the conditions where we can drive in comfort on all of them. Going forward, the Government is making the commitment, with the budgetary allocations from our [positive] economic performance, to build new roads, improve those roads and maintain them. Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine has been producing heavy showers and thunderstorms across the western Caribbean including Jamaica since Sunday morning forcing many schools to close early.

There have been reports of flooding in several flood-prone areas across the country with conditions likely to get worse.

In its latest Wanted Wednesday publication shared on social media, Marshall has been named among several individuals being sought by the police for serious crimes they’ve allegedly committed.

He is said to frequent the communities of Bannister and Old Harbour Bay.

Non-motorists account for most road fatalities - Dr Jones

Vulnerable road users are defined as non-motorised road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and persons with disabilities or reduced mobility and orientation.

Of the fatalities, there were 48 pedestrians, 12 pedal cyclists and 98 travelling on a motorcycle. Eighty-nine drivers and nine pillion passengers also died in road accidents.

On September 24, 11-year-old Marla Richards, a Vere Technical High student, died after being hit by bus. Another student of the Clarendon-based institution was injured in a separate incident and taken to hospital for treatment.

Mother distraught over missing 11-y-o daughter

So far all attempts to locate and bring her home, are to no avail. Her father and the rest of the family have been combing Spanish Town and its surrounding communities for days but so far their efforts have not unearthed any leads.
