A woman and her family are counting their lucky stars after she was shot by a prowler at their Patrick Street home, Old Harbour.
The incident occurred early this morning about 2:15 when the family reacted to “strange noise” coming from outside.
Information ascertained by the police is that as members of the family were about to go outside to investigate the situation they were shot at by a man seen in the yard. This caused them to run back inside the house, however, it was later discovered that a 44-year-old female occupant who was in her bed at the time had a gunshot wound on her right hand.
The woman was rushed to the hospital where she’s being treated. Her condition is not considered serious.
It is believed that the prowler was attempting to steal goats from the yard.
The police are investigating.
