Stewart, 33, died Sunday morning at the Spanish Town Hospital after collapsed during a game of football in his community of Gordon Pen.
The former Reggae Boy, who played 12 times for Jamaica, played for the Norwegian First Division side between 2012 and 2014, helping them to win 46 games while scoring 10 goals.
In a statement posted on the European club’s website, it read: “It is with great sadness that we received the sad news on Monday morning that our former player Tremaine
"Stewart has passed away so far too soon. We at Aalesund Football Club would like to express our deepest condolences to Tremaine Stewart's family.”
After leaving Aalesunds FK on a free transfer, Stewart returned to Jamaica and was signed by Waterhouse FC in 2015 before a another opportunity to ply his trade in Europe came knocking.
Finland’s top flight club Rovaniemen Palloseura were his suitors but after only five months he returned from the bitterly cold Arctic Circle of Lapland to sign as a free agent with Portmore United in Janaury 2016.
