Late this afternoon, residents were forced into evacuation mode as fast rising waters from the Coburn Gully came over on to the streets.
And within minutes the lower section of the community was inundated by murky flood waters reaching roughly five feet high in some areas.
Some 60 homes and over 200 residents are presently impacted in this flood-prone community, as the cyclone moves slowly north of the island.
Things could become trickier for residents later on as there is no electricity in the community after a transformer exploded earlier in the day. The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) said it is unable to respond to such emergency due to the unfavourable weather conditions that exists at the moment.
With the Coburn Gully breaking its banks the Spring Village to Gutters main road is now impassable residents say, while emergency rescuers were called to a home near the bridge to assist a family trapped by the waters.
Meantime, it is advised that motorists approach the Church Pen area of Old Harbour Road with extreme caution due to flooding.
