The police were called to the scene about 10:30 this morning after a group of armed thugs stormed a yard and physically abused the occupants there. One man was gun-butted and beaten so bad he had to seek medical attention.
Their main target apparently was a man known only as ‘Rasheed’ who was accosted by the gunmen after he unknowingly walked straight into the heat of the moment.
When the men left the area, the occupiers observed a trail of blood which led them to Rasheed’s headless body next door.
Investigators haven’t garnered much concrete evidence to establish a real motive behind the attack and grimy killing. But the believe Rasheed was the target given the savage manner he was taken out.
Prior to now, detectives have no record of Rasheed being associated with any crime, which has led them to theorize that his killers were intent on sending a strong message to whoever the enemy may be.
While investigation into the homicide is onging, the police have imposed a curfew in sections of Gregory Park.
The curfew began at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 18 and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20.
