Top regional producers of chicken meat, Jamaica Broilers Group, is refuting claims made by KFC Jamaica that there is a shortage of chicken.

Responding to the claim, the Jamaica Broilers Group, issued a statement this evening, citing ongoing system upgrade that it is working to resolve “in short order”.

The Jamaica Broilers statement read: “The Best Dressed Chicken would like to assure the public that there is no chicken shortage, contrary to a social media post by KFC.

“We are currently upgrading our systems to offer even better service to all our customers. Regrettably, the transition to the new system has resulted in some customers receiving reduced quantities of our products.

“During a visit to our Spring Village plant this week, KFC was assured that any dislocation is temporary. There is no need for our customers to be concerned about supply as we are more than capable of meeting the demand in the market.

“The issues surrounding the transition will be resolved in short order, and while we regret the inconveniences caused by this transition, there is no cause for alarm.

“We are happy when our customers grow and we remain steadfast in our work to serve the Jamaican people with the best quality chicken.”

Earlier this afternoon on its social media platforms KFC Jamaica advised the public that it is “experiencing unforeseen shortages in chicken products” because of “significant supply challenges at our sole chicken supplier, Jamaica Broilers”.

This disruption it added may result in its ability to deliver “some of your favourite meal items” at select KFC restaurants across the island.
