Over the last 24 hours, some 20,000 residents in these communities have seen service disrupted significantly.
In an advisory last evening the NWC said “its teams are now mobilizing to extract the damaged equipment and will undertake an assessment to determine the earliest timeline for repairs and a restart of water supply distribution”.
It noted: “A further update will be provided within the next 24-36 hours,” on the situation.
In the meantime, the NWC said alternate measures will be implemented to supply water on a scheduled basis to the affected areas.
“Customers are advised that supply times may vary and that most residents may experience lower pressures than normal,” stated the state-run utility company.
In a supply schedule shared, the NWC indicated that water will channelled, albeit at low pressure, from another facility to New Harbour villages I, II and III between the hours of 6:00 am and 10:00 am daily. However, residents of New Harbour Village IV, The Aviary and Presidential Estate should receive water in their taps during the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm each day.
The NWC further noted that trucked water will be provided to affected customers where necessary.
