A power supply issue to a power line belonging to the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has forced the National Water Commission (NWC) to shut down its system at Marlie Mount.

Residents served by the facility woke up this morning without water in their tap. Several persons living in the Marlie Mount area said about 4:00 am today they heard a loud explosion, while the electricity went for a few seconds before returning.

At the time of writing a section of the Marlie Mount commercial area along Begonia Crescent was without electricity.

The NWC, meantime, issued an advisory regarding the development saying the “JPSco single phase issue” has resulted in water supply disruptions to a number of communities served by the pump.

Areas affected are Marlie Mount, Old Harbour Villa, Island Farm and some sections of Church Pen, Old Harbour and Marlie Acres.

The NWC is assuring customers that “regular water supply will be restored as soon as the power supply problem is corrected”.
