The deceased is 29-year-old Delgrado Cole, otherwise called ‘Grado’ of same community, commonly referred to as ‘John Crow Lane’.
According to the police about 9:25 pm residents heard loud explosions in the area and summoned the lawmen who upon arrival saw Cole lying face down in a pool of blood.
Residents in the area, however, informed Old Harbour News that Cole and a group of friends were together when a group of armed men alighted from a vehicle and told them not to move. Cole instead ran off and was shot. The men then went over him and shot him multiple times before escaping in the car.
The scene of crime unit was called in and the area processed but investigators are yet to establish a motive behind the attack.
Cole, Old Harbour News understands, worked as a labourer in Montego Bay, St James and was visiting on the weekend, as he would normally do most times.
His death was one of two homicides for the police sub-division of Old Harbour over the Easter weekend.
Three hours after Cole was slain, detectives were called to another crime scene, this time on West Street in the vicinity of the popular adult strip club Whispers.
Persons along the ‘hip strip’ heard loud explosions believed to be gunshots being fired.
A male, who the police are yet to positively identified, was found suffering from what seems consistent to be gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was formally pronounced dead by a doctor on staff.
Old Harbour News sources claimed the deceased is believed to be a deportee.
The police said both shootings are not connected based on preliminary work by detectives so far.
Investigation continues.
