Freshly laid asphaltic concrete created a warm scenery Monday, following works done over the weekend.
It’s also “promise kept” for Mayor Norman Scott, who had appealed to operators and commuters last month for patience amid threats of protest against unsatisfactory conditions at the facility.
Now the next step is the construction of a shed for commuters, Mayor Scott told Old Harbour News, stating such a plan forms part of the overall project.
Sitting councillor of the Old Harbour Central Division Steve Graham said the shelter will be built at the original fish vendor’s stall, but could not provide a timeline.
Graham, further informed Old Harbour News that the surface at the rear of the Old Harbour Market will soon be renovated with “marl and gravel already dump around there”.
The first-term councillor, who is the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) standard bearer for the division whenever the next local government election is announced, noted that the deplorable state of the sidewalk opposite KFC was rehabilitated on the weekend as well.
But it is the vastly improved state of the public transportation park that will be celebrated most by all and sundry.
The dust nuisance during dry times and the many pools of muddy puddles whene ver it rain, are now things of the past.
