The Iberostar Resorts & Spa will come alive as the stage is set on Sunday, December 18 for the annual Sounds of the Season presentation by the Young Jamaica Ensemble of Sam Sharpe Teachers' College.

In its 22nd year, the Christmas special has become a staple during the holiday season for Montegonians and Jamaicans at large. This year, the 50-piece band promises to deliver their most electrifying performance.

The ensemble is part of the college's continued outreach in the communities that encompass it. Through a rich and diverse music education and performance programme, it provides opportunities for "at-risk" adolescents to enhance their lives, making themselves better musicians.

The band is eager and thrilled to perform again in front of a crowd after the pandemic, as the past two showcases were delivered digitally.

Vinton Haughton, director of bands for the Young Jamaica Ensemble, said: "Since being back on stage, in front of an audience, we've seen the resurgence of the talent and passion for the performing arts that are innate to Montego Bay. With this showcase, we plan to display Montego Bay's best talent!"

Music and magic will be the highlights of the night. While they will offer their stunning renditions of the season's standards and favourites, the band will also pay tribute to women from Jamaica's rich musical heritage. The Young Jamaica Ensemble is poised to command the attention of every pair of eyes and ears with a mesmerising extravaganza of flourish, flair and musicianship.

Tickets for Sounds of the Season can be purchased from the school's music department on campus, Options Cosmetics Fairview or at the JCDC St. James office. You may also
