Several Jamaican natives from the community of Old Harbour recently lit up Brookville Park in Queens, New York in celebration of Family Day.

The picnic brought together Jamaicans from other communities as well who have been supportive of the annual reunion organized by the Old Harbour and Friends Association (OHFA), a United States registered charity.

It was a fun-filled day for the entire family who all had an enjoyable time, said Learoy Thompson, public relations officer, OHFA.

According to Thompson they all spent eight hours, playing games, renewing acquaintances and devouring sumptuous cuisines prepared by Sandra Pitter-Bryan and her husband Kenneth Bryan and the Golden Krust team who “went beyond the call of duty to provide the bulk of refreshment at no cost to our organization”.

The Bryans, he added, also took full charge of décor and serving the guests before acknowledging wholeheartedly the efforts of “Mr. Richard Edwards who had fans waiting in long lines to sample his signature jerk chicken”.

“OHFA remains truly grateful for Sandra’s philanthropic deeds, and whereas our folks here in New York have witnessed such generosity, we therefore want our folks in Jamaica in general, and Old Harbour in particular to be aware,” Thompson said.

Old Harbour and Friends Association is charity organization since 1993 raising funds to supports Jamaicans at home and abroad.
