“I learned independence from a very young age. For the most part my mom, she was always working. ISSA U19 Basketball: Old Harbour issue ‘psychological'

Drawn in Zone A of the Southern Conference, Old Harbour finished second in the group behind Camperdown who defeated them home and away.

The defeats were insignificant at the end of the preliminary round, as Edwards’ boys secured one of two automatic spots from the group to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Beating traditional top teams such as Calabar, Ardenne and St Catherine High in the group, Old Harbour are without doubt one of the top teams in the country, but they continue to flounder when it matters most.

Avis’ 17 points in vain as Camperdown defeat Old Harbour again

It is the second time Camperdown have gotten the better of Old Harbour in the preliminary round in the Southern Conference Zone A, this time winning 59-51.

And the fact that Camperdown’s victory was achieved on their rival’s home turf - the Old Harbour Church of Christ court - will certainly cement their status as the team to go all the way and claim national glory this season.

Matthew McGowan (17 points) and Tyrese Henry (13) led the victory charge of the visitors, as well as Nickel Wright and Alright Morris with 10 rebounds and 10 assists respectively.

Campion stun Old Harbour to lift schoolboy rugby title

The Campionites exacted revenge at the most important stage of the competition, while it was the opposite for Old Harbour who tasted defeat for the first time this season.

The battle was a replay of the preliminary round clash between these two sides in which Old Harbour romped to a 22-14 win.

Despite all the pre-final talk of avoiding complacency by Old Harbour head coach Devaughn Stewart, the favourites were profligate in a game they dominated at the Cedar Grove Academy field.
