Old Harbour thrashed by Tacky in Headley Cup cricket

Victory moved Tacky, one of the favourites to win the title overall this season, to the top of Zone D to remain unbeaten after two games.

Tacky’s impressive win was setup by Tyson Gordon Jr’s undefeated knock of 102, as the hosts posted 294 for two after being sent in to bat.

Gordon shared in two important partnerships with Javere Green (91) and Marland Williams (42) which laid the foundation for a massive total.

Powell, Thomas star in Old Harbour’s four-wicket win

Batting first on a very good Port Esquivel pitch, Tacius Golding were bowled out for 87 with 13-year-old Thomas bagging 7-23, while Powell (2-16) and Jhamario Lewis (1-22) claiming the other wickets.

In response, Old Harbour High raced to 90 for six in 16 overs, with Powell top-scoring with 55 from 39 balls.

Tacius Golding’s talismanic all-rounder Jemoy Cummings, who had recorded a topscore of 29 runs with the bat, returned best figures of 4-36 in the Zone D encounter.

16-y-o Old Harbour High schoolgirl reported missing

A missing person report has been filed with the police after Jones, 16, did not return home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

The teenager is a student of the Old Harbour High School and resides with her mother at Jacaranda Homes, Innswood, St Catherine.

Phiona Miller, who is the mother, told Old Harbour News that her daughter left home in her school uniform, but hours later learnt that classes were moved online due to heavy rains.

Shayanne Henry is Bois Content Primary’s top girl in PEP

This was in the annual Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examination, a national standardized external assessment programme for primary school leavers matriculating into high schools.

“I was extremely happy to know that I was awarded top girl because I worked very hard to prepare myself for the exam,” said Henry.

Henry aspires to become a soldier, she revealed because in the army she will be taught a lot of discipline and would also like to serve her country.

Ajhaunii Simms secures scholarship to Old Harbour High

Indeed, that’s how Candice Simms and her husband Omroy are feeling at this time since the eldest of their three boys, Ajhaunii, did impressively well in the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) national exams.

The Davis Primary graduate logged a placement score of 376.7 or 94% which earned him a one-year scholarship at Old Harbour High School courtesy of the Old Harbour Baptist Church where his parents are members.

“It feels good,” said the 11-year-old who loves to play different sport and aspires becoming a professional athlete.

As he enters the final few months as a student at Old Harbour High, the 19-year-old will surely leave his own mark at 33 South Street, Old Harbour where he obtained 15 subjects – 10 at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) level and five at the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE).
