This latest measure follows a similar 48-hour curfew imposed on Tuesday after security officials decided to discontinue the State of Emergency (SOE) previously in place for St. Catherine South, which includes Old Harbour.

JACDEN Enterprise Limited is questioning in its missive to the country’s apex anticorruption body that there seemingly is a degree of prejudice against them after submitting the lowest bid for janitorial and portering contract for Kingston Public and Victoria Jubilee hospitals, but was overlooked.

However, the state agency with oversight responsibility for all health facilities in the parishes of St Thomas, St Catherine, Kingston and St Andrew, stated that contracts are not awarded purely on the basis of offering the cheapest rate.

May Pen Bridge to be closed this Sunday

Closure will be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The bridge is being closed by the National Works Agency (NWA) and according to Manager, Communication and Customer, Stephen Shaw, closure of the bridge is necessary to have the repairs safely done. He explains that the driving lanes are narrow and that this will restrict the activities to be carried out during the allotted time.

The NWA, through a work crew, will be removing badly rutted sections of the carriageway which will then be repaved.
